THE ADAM IS COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABLE IDEAS AND PRACTICES.

THE ADAM development project involves a complete refurbishment of the building, which is 83 m high and has approx. 18.000 sqm spread over 22 storeys above ground and 2 basement storeys.

A study compared demolition and rebuilding scenarios with gutting and refurbishment. Analysis of the various demolition measures and of the restoration work on the office building clearly showed that refurbishment reduces emissions by around 50% and even saves more than half of the materials compared to demolition and rebuilding.

But THE ADAM intends to do a lot more. In keeping with the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) approach, further steps will be taken to reduce emissions during the next stages of the refurbishment. This will be achieved, for instance, through the use of environmentally friendly raw materials for both the exterior and the interior of the building, which will remain 100% reusable and can be recycled over the entire period of use.
